On April 28th, one hundred and twenty-eight Latino students from the New York City School system, and their parents attended a recognition program sponsored by White Rose Food. This event was held at the Bronx County Courthouse, which gave the event a wonderful surrounding of grandeur and prestige. The mayor of New York City, Mayor Bloomberg, was a surprise attendee, and spoke to the honorees on the importance of education and congratulated them for their recognition by the faculty and principals of their schools. This was the 16th year of this event.
The honorees were further honored at the May 1st New York Yankee game at Yankee stadium, where they were presented to the crowd with an on the field appearance before the start of the game.
