Mothers Recognition Program Winners Treated to Luncheon and Serenade

On Saturday, April 30th, 45 mothers and their children were treated to a luncheon at Riccardo's in Astoria, Queens. Throughout the afternoon they were serenaded by a strolling Mariachi group of singers and musicians. The event was hosted by Bob Groves and Jose Valdivieso, who were joined by store owners Bill Fani and Miguel Garcia. The afternoon was filled with laughter and some tears, as the children's nominating submissions on why their mothers should be recognized were highlighted and read to the attending group. The youngest child whose nomination was included was 8 years old, and the oldest mother in attendance was 91. A very special, never to be forgotten, afternoon was enjoyed by all, including us from White Rose and our owners. Click on banner above to view photo slide show of the event.

Hispanic Achievement Awards

On April 28th, one hundred and twenty-eight Latino students from the New York City School system, and their parents attended a recognition program sponsored by White Rose Food. This event was held at the Bronx County Courthouse, which gave the event a wonderful surrounding of grandeur and prestige. The mayor of New York City, Mayor Bloomberg, was a surprise attendee, and spoke to the honorees on the importance of education and congratulated them for their recognition by the faculty and principals of their schools. This was the 16th year of this event. The honorees were further honored at the May 1st New York Yankee game at Yankee stadium, where they were presented to the crowd with an on the field appearance before the start of the game.
